This is from CFNY 102.1 fm out of Toronto:

To celebrate Canadian Music Week in Toronto, the Edge presents “Top 102 Canadian New Rock Songs of All Time.” We’ve used all kinds of data to compile this list. Hmmmm ... there's definitely some good stuff on the list but there also seems to be multiple songs from the same artists which gives the impression that they only had a handful of artists to choose from ... which isn't true ... there's lots of great Canadian talent outside of The Tragically Hip or I Mother Earth or Our Lady Peace who get several mentions. It also seems to be limited to the last 20 years or so ... what about older artists like the Guess Who, for example or Neil Young (I know he lives in the US but so does Alanis Morrisette and she made it)?

I would have to say that there are certain bands that seem to "take over" a bit with countdowns, this one being no exception... and as for the older bands, this is a countdown of Modern Rock songs, which limit it to the last 20 years [I think].

So do you think there should be a different song at the top?

Modern rock makes sense given the station that's sponsoring the list ... I love Underwhelmed by Sloan and think it's perfectly deserving of taking top spot ... if this was chosen based on listener feedback, I'm pleasantly surprised.

I swear to God you gotta check this band out.

I know, new music sucks. I know good local music is hard to find, but I did it, and so can you. But actually, it is only local music if you live in or around Buffalo, NY. So, yeah. And I must admit, I had help finding this band. I worked with a guy that is one of the guitarists in Knife Crazy. But still. They're really really good.

Knife Crazy consists of three members, who are all vocalists. There is one drummer, and two guitar players. It is quite a unique sound.

To see their live show is to attend a rockshow/art exibit/exercism/spoken word massacre all at once.

And do not be scared off by the long confusing song titles... the music speaks for itself.

I swear to God you gotta check out this band.

Why does CNN need to be on? Seriously, I could use a break from all the seriousness of life, especially since i am sitting in a room full of potential jurors, waiting to see if this day has been wasted, and for how long.

I brought a book with me, but i am taking a break from that... And I am pretty much anti MP3-player, so I have no music...

But the room we're in has these computers and free internet [but no sound] so i am fighting off the boredum... i can't believe this website {mog.com} isn't blocked... facebook, myspace and even blogs.usatoday.com were all blocked...

I keep imagining myself as what-his-name from Twelve Angry Men persuading all of the jurors that no, that little hispanic kid did not stab and kill his neighbor. it had to be someone else!! But you know what? it is not going to be like that. besides the fact that they let women into jury rooms now, most people here are not going to be angry... they like getting jury duty. i, on the other hand, do not. i used to want to get it but now, i'm not so sure. it doesn't make me trust the Justice System any more than i did before...

i'm supposed to trust my future to these people??

anyways my question is this:

if there was a soundtrack for jury selection what would it be?

and just remember: there is no smoking, and no, you cannot leave to go smoke.

Thanks.
