There he was standing in front of a world wide audience. Performing one of his signature songs because for a split second the entertainment industry recognized that he was something special. Of course he didnt win but his song "Miss Misery" was infinetely better than anything that the Canadian chest thumper, that did win, has ever done. His name was Elliott Smith and he was an amazing singer/sonwriter. Recently his record label released a second collection of his songs cobbled togther from various recording sessions. The previous one "From a Basement on the Hill" was a wonderful selection of songs showcasing what he was working on prior to his untimely death. The new release is out takes and alternate versions of songs that was recording mainly during the sessions for his Either/ or album. It really shows the talent that Elliott had for haunting lyrics and harmonies. He was a unique talent and he is sorely missed
