Super Furry Animals Rock the Doug Fir 2/11/08

Gruff Rhys started out with his fab introduction "We're the Super Furry Animals!"...and introduced several songs with "this is a story about..." and then lovingly after each song the genuine, "Thank you very much!"The Super Furries offered up some delicious offerings from their latest CD Hey Venus! Stand outs for me were The Gift that Keeps Giving and Run Away. They also did a great job playing some of the older favorites...Calimero (song about a chicken), Do or Die, Juxtaposed With U, Golden Retriever, Rings Around the World.Super fun was the interactive event where everyone put their hands on top of their heads in a wiggly antennae fashion to help move the crazy cosmic music from the front of the stage all the way to the back of the Doug Fir.They played a solid and fantastic set and had to stop at midnight in accordance with Doug Fir timelines. There was a lot of mean spirited grousing about this in the crowd, which wasn't fair because the Super Furries played an awesome show and we got our monies worth for sure! I love you SFA and thanks for the absolutely great time in Portland OR!!!
