Check out this clip of John Entwhistle's isolated bass line from "Won't Get Fooled Again"....if you ever want to convince a youngster to play bass, I think this is the hook!
Very cool. Considering my familiarity with the piece, it's quite something to hear a component part on its own. I'd say that it allows me understand the composition in a whole new way.
When you hear it like that you realise just what an insane rhythm section that was. Watching Hammer's videos just reaffirms why I don't want to see them as they are now.
I love the Eminence Front clip.......the video for that tune was always one of my favorite early MTV memories. It was totally cheeseball but classic nonetheless!

I think I just convinced my great great grandfather to play bass....

All hail the chief. Entwhistle, forever drowned out by powerchords and swinging microphones, was a complete animal.

The Who just never figured out how to turn the amps down.
Hey..Entwistle had it down...his Bass Lines are some of the best ever recorded.
Even in spite of the over-driven amps and Townsend's and Daltrey's shenanigans John's Bass Line came through.
I still miss Keith Moon
