Guess SXSW went a little overboard on the wristband restrictions. Didn't even sell out of the initial 4,000 at $139 each. Can't say I'm surprised. Lots (should say ALL) of scalpers were eliminated from the running. Glad my gang got the three wristbands we wanted.Now, onto the scheduling of bands to catch. I've been gradually reading up on band announcements for 2008 SXSW. I usually read Donewaiting and Austinist. There are of course loads more sites with info. Eric & I (and hopefully Kelle) would love to concentrate on discovering new bands this year. It's fun to see bands you know, but southby is really 'bout the newest in new. Yes I bought 3-day passes at the low price before knowing the lineup. No I'm not regretting that after seeing the lineup. But, I am a bit disappointed in the lineup. There are just too many re-treads from previous ACL Festivals and SXSW.
