After the great slumber...

The beast awakes.

Ok, perhaps that's a little over-dramatic. Forgive me this one though, please. It's been a long time.

What I really mean to say is that we are once again doing things musically outside the confines of sweaty back rooms and plush London studios. Things you can tune in to. Things you can attend.

First up will be an appearance of "bits of ist" on Harborough FM - Kenton and Brett performing some live acoustic material, playing some of their favorurite CDs and the tracks that have influenced them, and no doubt generally garbling nonsense and trying to take over the show!
You can tune in on 102.3 FM if you live in or near the Market Harborough area, or you can Listen Live online by clicking this here link - LINK.
The show airs on Sunday, 1st July at 5pm GMT.

Furthermore, and even more exciting for us, is the forthcoming appearance at Guilfest. Saturday 14th July, 3:30pm, Live Club Stage.
This is gonna be a special performance as we have persuaded the Swinging Laurels back out of retirement once more to join us on stage, plus virtually the full lineup of the Toothpick Bridge Players will be there, adding their own brand of wonderousness. Expect pedal steel courtesy of Melvin Duffy (hey, Google that name!) and piano/keys from Paul Swannell. This'll be our biggest and best stage band since Summer Sundae 2005.

Remember, we still have a few day tickets available and one or two weekend tickets as well. If you want to attend Guilfest this year get in touch with the band (kenton.ist@gmail.com). Band discounts apply, so you can't get them cheaper anywhere else!

More appearances are on the horizon, but I'll save those for next time.

Special treat for all ye Moggers, here's the other A-Side to our last single.
Think of it as a reward for having read through all that!

Cheers now,Brettney.

  1. zarpex says Man, that's a ??very?? good song. I love the vocal (that David Byrne / Jonathan Richman feel - no matter what note he's hitting, it sounds like he's straining, which I'm a sucker for), I love the percussion part (with that little splash cymbal), I love the simplicity of the melody and the way the guitar carries it so comfortably, I love the tempo, I love the bridge... I suspected from your fondness for Richard Cheese that it might be a pastiche of "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald," but it's original, smart and catchy. Might go over a few heads, but good rock songs usually do at first. "Eddie Fitzpatrick is going to Hell!"

  2. Brettney says Jeez, thank you very much! I'll pass your comments on to the rest of the band. I may have a passion for Cheese, but that's a strictly personal indulgence. Hey, if you like what you've heard there you're gonna love the next album. Keep it tuned to this station, don't touch that dial - ist are returning with album samples and teasers really soon! </smarmy advert-style self promotion>
