Lightning Bolt at the AS220

Well....last night I ventured to a show in Providence at the AS220 featuring Hairy Dairy, Afrirampo, and Lightning Bolt. The show was decent, nothing spectacular, but still enjoyable nonetheless. Hairy Dairy started things off, playing only four songs. I would comment more about Hairy Dairy but I wasn't really listening to them, as I was sitting outside smoking a cigarette and talking to two girls who seemed pretty chill. Anyway, I went on in and listened to Afrirampo, a Japanese band consisting of two wonderfully talented female musicians. One plays guitar, the other plays drums. I thought that they had some really good, interesting music, and they were fun to watch as well. The only lull in their set was when they broke off into an seven minute lullaby-like vocal song. While it started off good, after the first 2 minutes, I was bored, and again, went outside. Finally, the reason I went to the show, Lightning Bolt, took the floor and started to play. Some small technical difficulties aside, their set was enjoyable. The only song I really recognized was Captain Caveman, and it also seemed like the Brians were in a bad mood, and took the time to just have some improvisational fun. All in all...decent show.
