WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Explosions in the Sky

Posted over 3 years ago
Explosions in the Sky are by-far my favorite band. A few years back my friend gave me a copy of _The Earth Is Not a Cold, Dead Place_ to listen to and as soon as that first chiming guitar note came in, I fell in love. I first listened to Explosions was during the winter and I thought, "Wow, this is the perfect music for a snowy winter day/night." When spring began I thought, "Wow, this is the perfect music for rejuvenation and warmth." Then summer began and...are you catching my pattern? I listened to the other two albums that they had out at the time, _Those Who Tell..._ and _How Strange? Innocence_ and was floored. Each album was beautiful, and in each's own way unique. The best analogy I can give is to the original Star Wars Trilogy. _How Strange_ is the original film. It introduces us to the characters and opens us up to a whole new world of possibilities, as well as provides a solid foundation to build on. _Those Who Tell..._ is the Empire Strikes Back, its the tragic part of the tale; beautiful, but darker, with no sense of optimism. And here's really where I'm going to strech this analogy..._The Earth_ is Return of the Jedi. It starts of very optimistic...Luke and the gang get back Han from Jabba...then gets darker...Luke goes back to Degobah, Yoda dies....a little bit fiercer...the Battle of Endor....then ends with hope, optimism and a look to the future.Wow I've really trailed off on this....Anyway....Explosions in the Sky is an amazing band. If you've never heard them...I strongly suggest that you check them out.

  1. Todd says I cant believe you compared Explosions in the Sky albums to Star Wars movies. I mean, I love Star Wars to no end, but you went to far. I'm almost ashamed that you are my friend.
