How has your taste in Music changed over time?

Posted over 5 years ago
I've found that my diverse collection is the accumulation of different interests over different stages of my life. In elementary school to middle school (early - late 60's) it was Motown and the Beatles; late middle school to mid high school (early to mid 70's) it was Top-40 Pop music; late high school (mid to late 70's) it was Top-40 with a shift towards hard rock; early college (late 70's) I was getting into psychedelic rock and heavy metal; mid-late college (late 70's to early 80's) progressive rock and classical music (my mom's favorite); after college (early -mid 80's) I was influenced by MTV so I liked all the classic 80's rock; late 80's to early 90's had me checking out country music (my dad's favorite); mid-90's saw some hip-hop enter my collection and a return to pop music; late 90's saw me getting into the Asian music scene (I lived in Korea and got MTV Asia and Channel V); early 2000's I started checking out electronic/trip-hop/chill-out sounds; mid-2000's to present is Indie-Pop, alt.country with a smattering of all of the previous styles I was interested in. So what is your history?

  1. MrFrost says my parents were big hip hop fans, so ive been listening to it for as long as I can remember, since the womb. R&B,pop, and a little rock crept into my collection in my late 90s high school years.

  2. Bob3743 says One of the coolest hip-hop songs I’ve heard lately is “Current Affairs” by Zion I and The Grouch from their Heroes in the City of Dope album. It’s kind of like Hip-Hop meets the X-Files. Way cool….check it out if you get a chance
