So way back in July or August, the "Hodiau Direkton" portion of Radiohead's blog, Dead Air Space, was replaced with a message that it would return in September. The section is where the band posts original artwork by Stanley Donwood, who has worked with them for many previous album covers, among other interesting images.
Many took this message to mean that the new LP would be released coinciding with the Hodiau return, or some news would at least be conveyed about the album through it.
Alas, Thom and the boys like to tease us. Today brought a new image to Hodiau, seen below:

It appears to be a message encoded in some version of semaphores (or however you spell that). In fact, some fans over at the www.ateaseweb.com forums figured out the message.
It reads:
YES WE ARE STILL ALIVE
Well thank goodness for that!
I found it very funny, and it seemed exactly like Thom to tease the piss out of a group of fans who will have waited about 5 years for LP7 when it finally drops sometime next year (fingers crossed).

Some Lucky little kids at the Matrix Music & Arts school in Oxford got to help out Colin and Nigel with a track for LP7.

You can see some pics from the session near the bottom of the link. Seems from these that they recording the kids clapping or something, so perhaps it's for "15 Step"?

Ok all you eager 'head-Heads out there in the Mogosphere, some bad news just came out: Radiohead's long-awaited LP7 has been pushed back to a 2008 release date, making it nearly 5 years since HttT dropped. Rumor has it that the album itself is finished or nearly finished, but it's being withheld so the band can sign to a new label and "properly" promote the album ahead of time.
Here are 3 separate sources from Teletext, Rolling Stone, and Pitchfork:
http://www.teletext.co.uk/Entertainment/Music/News/default.aspx http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2007/08/15/metallica-deny-lawsuit-rumor-ugk-top-billboard-chart-radiohead-push-new-lp-to-2008/ http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/44901-apparently-no-new-radiohead-album-in-2007

My question is, after 5 years of waiting, does this album need promoting amongst those who are already fans? Perhaps I'm just bitter because just a few weeks ago it really seemed like we could get it by this year's end. Oh well.
Also, who plans to download the album if/when it leaks? I don't, and I've also temporarily removed all of my 2006 bootlegs of the new tunes from my iTunes so I can hear the album versions with "semi-fresh" ears.

Yet more confirmation from NME:

And after waiting five long years, what if the album is a big letdown? Probably it won't be, but you never know.
