Bonnaroo headliners: Phish & The Boss?

Posted over 3 years ago

The rumor mill is churning with reports that Phish and Bruce Springsteen will headline Bonnaroo this year.

It's an odd bill, granted, but Bonnaroo's been throwing changeups for a few years now. In particular, Phish manager Coran Capshaw's close ties to Superfly AC makes the Phish thing look like good business sense. Phish will certainly move tickets, and a lucrative plug-and-play-and-get-the-fuck-out situation is probably very appealing to a band whose last live musical act was a DIY festival that turned apocalyptic.

One way or the other, I'll be skipping Bonnaroo this summer and hope to get my Phish fix at Red Rocks.

Sounds awesome but i can't see Phish doing a festival with other bands since they haven't ever done one before.  Not sure i believe this rumor until i see it.  Last year it was rumored that Led Zeppelin was going to be at Bonnaroo, that didn't happen.

I see Phish doing a stream of their own tour this summer and ending it off MSG for New Years then perhaps a 3 day festival of their own in some far off kick ass location.

Expect to see Phish doing a lot of things they haven't done before.

All of the band members have expressed a desire to do less work related to things besides the simple act of making music, and throwing their own festivals is a mountain of work.  And you can imagine how traumatized they all still are after Coventry -- which from a financial perspective could have turned out far worse for them (it's a miracle they weren't sued class action).

Like I said, it's a rumor, so take it with a grain of salt.

True, pretty exciting to see what they're going to do next.  I don't know how much longer i can wait to find out...Red Rocks is definitely on their list of things to do though, see you there!

Well, you can sue anybody for anything.  But the tickets were rain or shine and they turned a lot of people away with refunds -- however, many of those people spend hundreds of dollars to get to the site, and lots of them suffered injuries walking in, and were subjected to let's say "unsanitary" conditions once inside.  The whole thing was a shit-show, and any crafty class action attorney could've found grounds.  It speaks to the goodwill of Phish fans that this did not happen.
