The Southland's Bleeding

Posted 10 months ago

"The Southland's Bleeding" is one of only three songs sung by Waylon Jennings on this album so I guess you can't really call this a "Waylon Jennings" Album although he is the Narrator of the story. This is an Early Concept Album/Story Album which originated in London back in 1978 which is probably why it never made the mainstream here, That or I Missed it back then which is totally possible.

This album tells one story about the American Civil War from the Southland's side and once you hear it a few times and really begin to digest the total story it is quite poignant and might even bring a tear or two.

The songs by Waylon here are very emotional but so are the offeringd from Jessi Colter (dont think they were married back then), John Dillon and Steve Cash, with Rodena Preston's "Voices of Deliverance"as the Slaves.

Hopefully I can find a ay to upload the whole album as it really needs to be listened to in its intirety to get the full emotion of helplessness felt by the fighters of the South. Those were dark times for sure but times which changed important feelings not only here but in the world.

I hope you can enjoy this album as it has been one of my favorites for Many years
