Combustible Edison was a group founded in the early 1990s in Providence, Rhode Island, and was one of several lounge music acts that led a brief resurgence of interest in the genre during the mid-1990s. Unlike other bands with a more ironic take on the lounge scene, Combustible Edison took the music seriously and strove to add to what its members saw as a canon of works, such as those by Esquivel, Henry Mancini, and Martin Denny.
"Millionaire's Holiday"
"Carnival Of Souls" with added Herk Harvey

I knew I'd heard "Spy vs Spy" in some movie, but only thanks to imdb.com do I now know I heard it in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
Spot on Buzz!...you get 3 bonus points for superior skills.
good one buzz. i think i'll finally read that book on my plane ride across the country this weekend! this song's great, never heard of them or payed much attention to the loungey resurgence i guess.
I absolutely love Combustible Edison. Millionaire's Holiday is a great song. I first saw the video to that song from the SubPop video music tapes. I had to have their albums after that. I know they got a second shot of indy popularity because their songs were used heavily on the "4 Rooms" movie. Before Combustible Edison they were a band called Christmas but they only had 3 albums. I haven't heard those yet but am dying to hear them. James McNew of Yo La Tengo and Dump was a member right before he joined Yo La Tengo.
Britt, the Loungecore resurgence was pretty big in the UK during the 90s but most of the popularity was based on irony and cheese.
Sam, I had a feeling these were right up your street, and thanks for adding to their resume.
