WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Stumbling.

I'm sure everybody knew about this man before me. I only heard of him a few weeks ago. I was talking to a friend, telling him that there has never been a decent cover of a beatles song. Which up until that point I didn't think there was. So my friend knowing I like weird men with beards and a talent for music gave me this.I was very impressed. Here comes the sun is the first track on the album and it draws you straight in. It has everything a good cover needs... sod all from the original song. That's probably why I've never liked a beatles cover; too many people trying to be the beatles.I have since listened to various Richie Havens albums, and have unfortunately been disappointed. None of them capture the magic of Alarm Clock. It has this raw, almost ostentatious hippy nature, which would make most frown. Yet it is recorded with such power and love, that you can't do anything but find it endearing for the very aspects that should make you walk away. It's an album that will be played regularly and will always make me smile. So if anyone's interested I think they should search out this album. Or alternatively watch the woodstock documentary, a lot of his set is on there. Finally, if anyone knows of any other great beatles covers... then feel free to share with me how blind I have been.
