MUSIC CHATTER AND MATTER

Satisfy My Soul

Posted about 1 year ago
I've been really starting to like, no LOVE, 60's soul music. I think it all started with Duffy and I know she's not from the 60's but that's her style of music. So anyway I'm really getting addicted to this stuff. Don't even ask me how I got around without listening to this kind of music. If ANYONE has some suggestions on some good artists or songs PLEASE tell me, it would be much appreciated!

  1. Perrier Lounge says You might try: Betty Harris - the lost soul queen of new orleans Alan Toussaint of New Orleans wrote and produced songs for her in the late 60's. On many of these recordings, the backing band was The Meters. Songs of hers to check out: A Break In The Road Mean Man her version of Blind, Crippled and Crazy you can find her stuff online at louisianamusicfactory.com In fact, Irma Thomas sings backing vocals on some of her tracks. Enjoy! Perrier Lounge

  3. BerkeleyBob says I recently name-checked the raunchy but under-appreciated Millie Jackson. Also, it may be of interest to you to check out the new Mavis Staples collaboration with Ry Cooder. Powerful, moving stuff. BerkeleyBob
