Track:
Northern Mississippi singer and guitarist Fred McDowell (1904-72) was fifty five years old before ever being recorded, three decades after he played his first small-time shows. His preference was to play acoustic guitar, although he was not averse to plugging in, and he taught Bonnie Raitt how to play slide guitar. His "You Gotta Move" was recorded by the Rolling Stones, and he was lucky enough to make decent living in l;ater life on the blues revival circuit.
In March 1969 he was recorded with Jo Anne Kelly in London, although the album seems not to have been released until 1985. This is the track that gave the set its name - "Standing at the Burying Ground"
While the old embed codes are still usable on YouTube, here is a live performance of "John Henry" on which he plays electric guitar.

Great post. Always good to hear Fred
I'll second that!
Sounds good. The two songs are like twins separated at birth.
