WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

that John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas, an event that truly did change the way all of us who live in democracies regard their political leaders. The shock of his death was felt all round the world. Given its proximity to the USA, and its economic links, it was hardly surprising that Jamaica felt the need to mark the event.

Here, firstly on Studio One are the Skatalites with "President Kennedy". To be fair, I suspect that it might have been called "Yeah Yeah" had it not been for the news from Dallas, asit's a fairly obvious cover

The lethal lead that felled The Man settled in the heart of twentieth century liberalism in America, curddling it, perverting it. The "ME" generation was born........

.....Ask not what your Country Can Do For You, Ask What You Can Do For Your Country......?

Such sentiment whithered & died, crowded out by the cynicism and greed of idealism shattered.

Has it reawakened? There is hope among some.

Umm, yeah I may not be old enough to remember this, but I'm pretty sure it was actually forty five years ago, I don't know,  call me crazy, and AP American History was  a long time ago, but not so long I forgot everything

Not to get in an argument or anything, but it seemed to me it was under Reagan in the 80s that me-me-me really got going.
