Funky Friday with Joao Donato

Track:
who is yet another Brazilian funkster whose name remains unknown in the Anglophone world. He was born in 1934, and is a contemporary of Joao Gilberto, Johnny Alf and others. This track was written by Dorival Caymmi, released in 1973 and really sounds like it captures life in one of Brazil's bustling urban communities. The title means "Shut Up, Boy"

Heh, I have this tune on a comp, but they spelled it all wrong on that. Thanks for clearing that up..BTW,I don't know if its me, but there's no tune showing on the post..
and yet when I clicked again, there it was. Nice groover.
The MOG monster occasionally eats tunes - post without tune, then edit immediately, usually cures the problem.
Too my knowledge, isn't there's a lot of "lost" music from Brazil from around that period due to changing political climate? Everytime I hear something new from there, I just like the music more and more.
It's not lost on me! Excellent tune. I remember asking some local South American students at a party if they liked this kind of music and they laughed at me and said that this was their parents music. Oh well. I still like it.
I like it also. It's quite different from any other Brazilian recording I've ever heard before.
Donato's music can be maddeningly lazy, but when he's on - as he most definitely is here - he hits a sweet spot no once can reach....
Like the tune. The length is interesting almost more of an interlude than a "song." realnice.
Never heard, but this is great as usual Baudo!
