For the benefit of the two or three people who still click on the red button when I post, here is Dr John live in concert. The song was originally written long distance by telephone, and is a collaboration between Gerry Goffin and Mac Rebennack, intended for Aaron Neville. He, however, was unwell and unable to record it, so Dr John cut it himself.
He describes the live performance of it thus - "With this tune, I like to do my therapeutic stuff with the audience; put all my business in the streets for people, who really don't care anyway. Get something off my mind. It's therapeutical for me, and cheaper than a shrink".
Until a few weeks ago I might have thought that summed up this place. Now? I'm not so sure.

We're here. Right now the red button is.....not doin' its thing. But I will check in later.
Main problem here was that the post itself showed up on my screen, but not in "Posts". Now it seems that I'm the only one with a red button.
Time to wind up the elastic band that powers this place, I suggest
I have a red button, which makes it easier for me to relate to you. That Dr. John song is a kick-ass discovery for me. He has too many great recordings!
Delectable Dr. John. Know what you mean about the vibe here lately. Thought it was me. but beyond a question MOG needs a couple of double espressos. I haven't exactly been doing my part to keep the energy level up, but I think it's beyond one person's efforts. Not sure of the solution, either. I'm feelin' like a real ray of sunshine here.....
Dr. John and Saturday nights go together like peanut butter and jelly....like orange juice and vodka....like me and my sweetie :)
Thanks
Yeah, I was wondering if anyone was still here too.
As for preferences, I always listen up for your Dub/Reggae posts. The wealth of knowledge is invaluable.
Until I read a bio of Doc Pomus (Lonely Avenue-a good 'un) I didn't knnow how much Mr.Dr.John was associated with the NYC crowd..intersting stuff. Don't blame me, I hope I'm considered one of the 3, even though I have been intentionally slacking of late.
Thanks for the post. Who was the outstanding drummer, Zigaboo Modeliste? In any event, the good Doctor holds forth about junk and doesn't make it sound very attractive. Of all his records, I think I like Dr. John plays Mac Renneback, instrumental piano best. Dunno what to say about what ails MOG but it is still a great source of music education, to which you contribute mightily.
Drummer was Herman V Ernest III - I suspect not even a household name in his own household. Album was recorded at Ronnie Scott's in London in January 1996
