(This one's for Cody B)
Coxsone Dodd's Studio One wasn't noted for its loyalty to mento and calypso music after the early sixties, but in 1971 or 1972 it released this quite astonishing 45 by Prince Francis, which merged the deejay style of Dennis Alcapone with some mento-style horns and a quite indescribable drum part, that makes Meg White sound like Art Blakey. Play this back to back with my Naaman Lee post from the other day, and see if you agree that it's the same drummer.
Prince Francis himself appears to have cut fewer than a dozen tunes, most of them at least copmpetent, but none quite as deranged as this.

great track! I love how it slowly devolves.... you think they're going to get back to the main groove but they just keep on rolling with their craziness.
Hah, he's all over the place. Totally digging it. Thanks,B.
Simple but effective. One of the good ones.
