We all know that the first version of this by the Topnotes was produced by a very young and inexperienced Phil Spector, so this is the first hit version of the tune, produced by Bert Berns in 1962

This was fun to listen to again, this time a little more carefully. There's a sax player that beep-beep-beeps a note every once in a while, and in its own way it adds to the ensemble, just one small part of the whole. The Isleys sing the heck out of it.
As for the Topnotes, what do you mean "We," Kemosabe? There's always something new and exciting on these Mog posts.
