SUTC: The Heptones cover Otis

Posted about 2 years ago

Back in 1968, in the aftermath of Otis Redding's untimely death, the Heptones cut a cover of "Dock of the Bay" at Studio One, that wasn't released on any of their LPs. On its UK release it was doubled up with "I'm the Ruler" by Anthony "Rocky" Ellis (information and image here from strictlyvibes.com).

This, though, is the 1980ish 12" reissue, with a new drum track and a triple length extended dub mix.

Thanks for the post, Baudo. Nice dub mix on this, worth listening to all the way through. Hope you are holding out okay.

Two weeks off from the Inquiry now (venue is needed for a wedding!) - evidence expected to finish August, with current likely timetable indicating written submissions by December, and final hearing in January, by which time I'll have been in the case for sixteen solid months.

Baudolino, in my prior life as a lowly administrative law judge, we would hear three to five trials a week (with court reporter, attorneys except a fair number of pro pers and medical exhibits) and would decide what ever was in the pipeline within 90 days or no pay check. I could not stay focused for a prolonged criminal or civil matter, could not sit through a protracted deposition, which is why I ended up in the arcane area of job injuries. I did not wear a wig, and fought bitterly the imposition of judicial robes in the last two years or so I worked; it was all pretty informal and high volume. If I had a wig, I would doff it to you.
