The Popular Music of Albania
is, perhaps, little known to the wider world. The late Enver Hoxha's iron fisted devotion to the philosophies of Mao Zhedong didn't exactly turn Albania into a tourist destination, so their pop music might be considered a trifle insular. While it's clearly very much in the same style as Greek and Turkish music, the Albanians can still come up with a good tune now and again

And this instrumental track, by Edessa, is from their CD "Balkan Border Music". It's called "Valle Korcare". I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
For some inexplicable reason, the main song doesn't play, but the one in comments does. It sounds like something from a Turkish wedding with "special" raki - which is meant as a compliment....
First tune's playing fine here, so when you switch back on all may be well
"O Bjen Tupati" is not only a good tune, but the singing and musicianship are top-knotch!
Here's a little something from a compilation of various artists, all recorded in Tirana in 1930, issued in 1998 by the Heritage label, which has made a point of reissuing world music recorded long, long ago. The tune starts getting interesting after the two-minute mark.
