Tonight I have been investigating
-
Artist:Said Abdella
-
Track:Selel Beli Keizeran
Http://beilul.com - "Home of the Eritrean Youth". there's a section of the site devoted to Eritrean music, including several revolutionary songs. Those who recall CodyB and myself posting tunes from Group Doueh from the Western Sahara will recall that their recording technology was a tad rudimentary - some of these recordings, presumably taped live on a single mike and circulated on cassette tape from village to village, make Group Doueh sound like masters of prog-rock.
Anyway, without further ado, here, from Tigre in 1989, is Said Abdella

Yes wishes they had that echo! Dynamite tune! The backing vox just work their way into your skull the way Roundabout never could.
And here is a current Top Five pop tune from the same site - just goes to show how much great undiscovered music there is out there. This is "Ijela", sung by Zeineb Beshir
Thanks for the tip. I definitely gonna spend a little time over there.
Nice work Baudolino. I still haven't found the Fatime video. It was older with a woman on bass. Fantastic stuff.
