So here is one of his classics from 1985.
Clive "Tenor Saw" Bright was a groundbreaking dancehall singer of the 1980s, whose wailing vocal style spawned numerous imitators - in fact, most dancehall singers of the era largely copied either Barrington Levy or Tenor Saw. Barrington is still with us, but Saw was killed twenty years ago, a victim of a Jamaican drugs feud, although some say he actually died by being hit by a car. He was 22 years old.
He recorded this, aged nineteen, for King Jammys, right at the start of the "Sleng Teng" explosion

Funny how well much of this early dancehall has aged. I loathed nearly all of it when I first heard it, but this sounds strong....
Ah yes, I brought the "Under mi sleng teng" by Wayne Smith not heard this version consciously. I love Barringtons Here I come. That tune used to cause a riot in the dance hall. I'M broad ....I'm broader than Broadway.
Thanks Baudo - I agree with Ivy, this era has aged well. Maybe I just get it more now, being more rhythmically inclined then I was when I first heard it.
