An obvious choice for a Wednesday night

is this tune recorded in New York exactly seven days after I was born, and released on an Atlantic LP called "Blues and Roots". It has been memorably described in one of Mingus' biographies as "A masterpiece of planned chaos"

I love Mingus - can't get enough of his records.

This, like practically everything else by him, is great

oooh - i love that your branching into your jazz box.  i LOVE Mingus.  my favorite jazz is mostly from his era: Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Dizzie Gillespie... I also enjoy Ornette Coleman, but not much else from the last 10 years...

    Thanks for the Mingus tune!
