Peter Tosh - Mark of the Beast

Posted about 4 years ago
was released on his HIM Intel Diplo (Intelligence Diplomat for His Imperial Majesty) label in 1977, didn't make it onto any of his LPs, and remains sought after by collectors. Here it is, ripped from ancient Jamaican vinyl, complete with dub version

  1. brittanybf says now that is some ancient vinyl. i've got a handful of tosh songs but haven't been able to settle on what album of his to purchase. if you could suggest one i'd appreciate it. the songs i've got that i love by him are "legalize it," "why must i cry," "smoke your herb," and "whatcha gonna do." thanks for a rare listen.

  2. Mindful says What a grand rare groove. Reflecting on what brittanybf was asking advice on..... I have 3 Peter Tosh albums and I couldn't choose only one out of, 'Legalize it', 'Equal Rights' and ;Captured live' the latter has a phenomenal track ...Rastafari Is. Whereas Equal Rights has a great haunting track -Igziabeher . It is too hard just to buy one, anyway thats my opinion which you don't have to take any notice of. of course

  3. brittanybf says Oh yeah! "Rastafari Is" I think I have that song too...not live however. You're probably right, I should invest in a few of his albums, not just one. More is more in this case.

  4. Baudolino says I tend to prefer his Coxsone/Upsetter and Intel Diplo recordings to his late Seventies albums, which tended to feature too many remakes of older tunes. For that reason I would go for "The Toughest", "Black Dignity" or "Can't Blame the Youth", although they are all a bit rawer than his more famous LPs. By the way, isn't "Igziabeher" on "Legalize It"?
