WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

Artist:
Album: Crusin' The 66
Track:
(46)

It was recorded in New Orleans in 1961 and released on the Minit label. I'm not sure it really is the best ever, but it's undeniably a wonderful tune.

Lead singer Norman "General" Johnson went on to front Chairmen of the Board in the 1970s, so his place in the list of greats is assured

I have not heard this in AGES, and it has aged well. Norman's voice has a kind of brass-y quality, a bit like Louis Armstrong's. The message is simple, but the delivery is superb.
