SUTC: Derrick Harriott

Artist:
Pete Wingfield's "Eighteen With a Bullet", based on an extended metaphor of using chart terms to describe a developing relationship, was his only hit in his own right, although he has a fairly distinguished record as a keyboard player, producer and songwriter.
The style and delivery of the song was ideally suited to Jamaican singer/producer Derrick Harriott's mid-seventies smooth "Uptown" soul stylings, and his version sold very well, almost making the pop charts in the UK. Bass vocals here are performed by Lloyd "Charmers" Tyrrell.

And here is its dub version, released on the Crystal label, on the "More Scrubbing the Dub" LP, some cuts of which were played by the fledgling Third World band. Not sure if this is them, to be frank. Other tracks are played by Zap-Pow, and there are a few sixties oldies reworked dubwise. The sleeve states "all songs written by Derrick Harriott", which may not be wholly true.
B, I figured it out!
