Track:
By the time he signed to Atlantic and hit the big time with "Shake, Rattle and Roll" in 1954, Big Joe Turner was 43 years old, and had been performing for close to four decades, and recording for close to twenty. His tune "Lucille" is not to be confused with Little Richard's rock'n'roll stomper. I saw him play in a club in San Francisco around 1975 with, I think, some ex-Butterfield ex-Electric Flag guys (Mike Bloomfield?) accompanying him. Later I read that the reason he was touring was that he was one of numerous R&B artists that Atlantic Records had cheated out of royalties. He had a huge voice, and a fondness for reusing blues melodies.

But for the voice comment.....the same could be said of most bluesmen.
But its great to hear this anytime
