of a song better known in another form. Bunny Wailer's 1978 12" Discomix of "Love Fire" remains one of his best loved records, despite the best efforts of Simply Red to ruin it with a fairly pedestrian cover version. However, the genesis of the song was rather older, being released on HIM Intel Diplo by Peter Tosh with the Wailers( Bob Marley can clearly be heard singing "Come pn you weary soul") round about 1970 as "Fire Fire".

However, more recent research that can be found on the wonderful www.mentomusic.com site reveals that, while the lyrics are relatively recent, the tune itself is an old folk tune, first recorded by researchers into Jamaican folk song back in 1958.

With apologies for the quality of the field recording, this is a 50 second clip of the Frats Quintet in 1958 singing "Mama We Want Fi Work"
