Jumping Jehosophat! Jackie Mittoo has a Message

Posted 9 months ago

"Message from a Black Man" was released as a single or LP track in the USA by The Temptations, the Whatnauts and the (Detroit) Spinners. In Jamaica it was a huge success for the Heptones at Studio One, was covered by Derrick Harriott, released as a deejay version by Sir Harry ("Sound Number 1"), as a dub called "Message From A Dub", and as a sax and trumpet instrumental by Im Brooks and David Madden called "Soul Brother".

With all these versions, it seems that Coxsone didn't have time to release (or at least release widely) this fabulous cut by Jackie Mittoo, which finally surfaced on a Soul Jazz comp a few years back. I have posted enough Jackie Mittoo in the past for you all to know how good he was, but there's always time for more
