SOUNDS OF FUTURE PAST AND PRESENT PERFECT

Any Nubians in tonight?

Posted 9 months ago

I suspect that this may be the first play of a Nubian sound on MOG. The Nubians are an ancient African people who have inhabited the southern regions of Egypt and the northern part of Sudan since well before the dawn of recorded history. They remain one of the world's least migratory genetic groupings, preferring to stay within their chosen area and let history move around them.

Ali Hassan Kuban is "the Godfather of Nubian Music", and this track is from his album "Walk Like A Nubian", first Released on the Piranha label. I'm not sure there actually are any piranha fish in the Nile, mind you

A most excellent introduction to Nubian sound. Thank you very much. -- Incidentally, doesn't "habibi" mean "darling"?

Odd, I was thinking about posting some Ali Hussan Kuban tonight - he is the king. Sadly, I have been unable to upload anything for more than a week. Not my intention for you to be carrying African Tuesday on your shoulders, but I'm flummoxed, And now there isn't even a MOG Forum to appeal to....

ivylander, at the bottom of this page click Help>support, and write about your plight in the pre-addressed email window that appears.

This is good trance music, with a swinging beat.

New to me. Very nice.  I'm trying to sneak my AT post in before the wire, but getting no help from MOG.
