For this Funky Friday, I have travelled to New Orleans in 1999, and my Tardis has locked in upon the Wild Magnolias, as they release their "Life Is A Carnival" CD.
The Wild Magnolias history is fairly well documented here - deriving from a tribe of Mardi Gras Indians, they have been stalwarts of the New Orleans scene since the ealy 1970s, and have cut four great albums since their debut "They Call Us Wild", released round about 1975. Having Wilson "Willie Tee" Turbinton on keyboards and Bo Dollis on lead vocals does help somewhat, mind you

Caught Mr. Bo Dollis, in full regalia, at my one and only Jazzfest visit. Was not disappointed. Pretty cool arrangement here, very Neville-y, if there is such a thing.
My, that bass line is a killer. I miss Funky Fridays. -- I'm with Cody. It's got a mellow touch, not unlike that of the Big Easy.
