[Booker T. & The MG's - Soul Clap '69 - 2:35]
It's still time for me to wish a Happiest 50th Birthday to the legendary label Stax Records, founded by Jim Stewart and his partners. More info: Stax Records 50th.
The "Stax Sound" encompassing people such as Otis Redding, Rufus and Carla Thomas, Isaac Hayes, Mavis Staple and many more is now more alive than ever with new or forthcoming releases from artists like Angie Stone and Soulive or Mr Hayes himself.
To celebrate this most joyous event, I'd like to dedicate this "Soul Clap '69" and Ms Stone's duet with Bettie Wright from her "Art of Love and War" LP to you all.

Great label, and the logo makes a sweet avatar.

On the move about the country atm.
My thanks for you for posting the perfect midnight jazz selection music for the moment.
"Soul Clap '69" is going straight into my first batch order from itunes of the year. Long live the music addiction... new years resolution... download more! :P

Very timely tune. A friend of mine just saw Booker on keys at a Bay Area benefit concert last week, and she confirmed that he's still gettin' it done. (As if there was any doubt...)

one sweet listen...going back to the lazy days, just letting the old geetar talk away....thanks a lot.

Video's blocked at work, but not audio. "Soul Clap '69" is a thing of swampy loveliness. Booker's great as usual, but Steve Cropper really makes this track for me....

1234C: I love the logo. The whole idea of rhythm as in R&B captured in one simple picture.
Xhable: My offer still stands.
Mike: I have no doubt about Booker T's stamina.
Tyler: The Fender Telecaster does it, doesn't it?
Ivy: You can't mention Steve Cropper and forget the driving bass of his mate Donal "Duck" Dunn. That's what I really like on this track - the subdued and masterful rhythm section.

Your point is well taken.

Nice. I got the complete Stax/Volt singles as a gift 13 years ago, and it is the gift that keeps on giving.
I'd like to point out that Stax, in addition to being home to so many soul greats, was also home to Big Star. Go figure.

the Telecaster blows minds baby!!!!! but...the Les Paul I got my eyes on will sound just as good when I finally get my $2,650......
My Trusted MOGs
That's what a Les Paul is going for now? Great googly moogly! I always thought they were bad rhythm guitars - way too smooth and delicate to get percussive on....
My Trusted MOGs
yeah, most les paul's are in the $750 - $1,500....but I want to have one built, great action...mostly for melodic lead playing, but high enough for my slamming rythyms....

Love me some Ms. Angie Stone, she is da shit! Great song & vid. Not familiar w/Bettie Wright though, although I've heard her name. Stax is a great label, so congrats to them on their 50th. Thanks for the heads up.

Good one B!
Cheers...hope your holidays were/ are most enjoyable!

Good work. An anniversary that deserves to go down in history (like the day you joined Mog!)

Brendan: Big Star is the perfect example of Stax' all-races-all-music philosophy. The fact that they never had the success they deserved is also another sad trait of Stax which should have been greater (perhaps than Motown)
Tyler: Les Paul and Telecaster are the instruments which make legends, aren't they?
August: Let's wish Stax to live and see 100 candles too ;)
Sunny: Grazie mille, bellissima.
FluxC: How did you know that I am not insensitive to flattery? Cheers.

Prego (and...grazie mille, gentili)

legends and legends in the making like myself....wish that were true....I am soon to be adding a song my father wrote in which I am a guest guitarist, not my style, but a little "John Lennon-ny".....I will post it soon, let me know what you think...

Sunny: Tutto va bene ;)
Tyler: Oh, I'd be honoured, sir.
