MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

(105)

How do you tell people about something that you really enjoy without scaring them away with over-enthusiasm?
Such is the dilemma posed by Those Dancing Days and their shameless syncopated Scandinavian pop.
Those Dancing Days are five girl-friends hailing from Nacka, a surburb of Stockholm. Rebecka Rolfart (guitar), Cissi Efraimsson (drums), Lisa Pyk Wirström's (keyboard), Mimmi Evrell (bass) & Linnea Jönsson (vocals) freshly off their Sixth Form College (or high-school for US Moggers) have been touring the festivals in their native Sweden this summer earning them high praises from the Swedish press as well as their fellow festival "line-uppers."
Signed on V2 Scandinavia who released their EP this year, our very young heroines (their average age is 18) stand poised to conquer the UK (and possibly the world) as Wichita Records will be releasing their EP on 8th October 2007.
After this very long introduction, you are certainly asking yourself what they sound like. Well here's a sample:

I'll venture a qualifier for their music: pure pep pop. Adroitly using their youthfulness, TDD spin unabashed pop gems lightly sprinkled with Hammond organ and rolled in spunky hooks.
Theirs is the perfect roller-disco music for ending the "Noughties." Then some day we will certainly look back at this and wonder what took us just like we'd asked why we'd put on those silver short pants and bright orange socks on those roller-disco nights.
Still, who cares about tomorrow's regrets when Those Dancing Days so sweetly sing [that we should be] "living for music/living in a dance/music for life/those dancing days?" Their MySpace page
An album is expected in 2008 on V2 Scandinavia. - I've also included a second track of theirs and a video in the comments.

There is something about the Swedes and their idiosyncratic smart pop which I can't quite explain. It gets me all the time... Hitten performed live by Those Dancing Days on Swedish TV

This is just brimming with spark and charm. I'm 17 again (but not in a pervy way).

Okay. 10 seconds and I'm already sold!

"How do you tell people about something that you really enjoy without scaring them away with over-enthusiasm?" That's one of the reasons I didn't start listening to Kraftwerk until a few years ago. LOL And, yes, that's generally quite a deterrent... which is why I went directly to the song before reading anything... which I will do now.

Hey Pseudo Cyborg, I'm glad you liked TDD. And many thanks for pointing out that their EP can be found on iTunes. I've got mine from a friend who saw them at a festival in Sweden and brought it back for me It didn't occur to me to check the apple store.

dachmo: "naturally curly red hair, smokin’ voice" I've had the exact words in my head when I saw the video. This picture will sum it up for us ;-)

It was a chance find, really. I didn't expect to find them there and was ready to order a CD and bite my nails in anticipation. I imagine I'll still end up buying a tangible copy of the CD, though. Digital downloads are convenient, but CDs are a whole other story.
