MOG

Maybe some day holidays will be given their proper name: idledays. Then we will take the time to leisurely go back to things we've only glanced over or quickly skimmed for lack of time.
Re-reading a novel we will then note words which have been transparent until now. ("She was Dolores on the dotted line") Re-playing a record, we will also take in a vibration to which we've been deaf so far.
This is what happened with Gossip's "Standing In The Way Of Control" and this particular track (no 4)

Purchased in May, the album has only been a pleasant passing experience without any further relief. On re-listening to it, details appear like wild flowers on a lush landscape. Present but hidden by the flaunting flora. Beth Ditto's voice resounds with sultriness and soul. Paine's guitar married with Billie's drums implacably placate the band's spunky fury.
The Gossip may be seeking to get you on the dance floor (as per their manifesto) but the trio have not overlooked our nagging aspirations (for love and soul).
To experience the wistfulness of "Cold To Diamonds," try and picture it in your ears as you look across the dawning Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy (France).
