There are no signs, no stars aligned

[St. Vincent - All My Stars Aligned - 3:47]
I read the signs
I got all my stars aligned
My amulets, my charms
I set all my false alarmsSo I'll be someone
Who won't be forgotten
I've got a question
And you've got the answer.
I'll do a dance to make the rain come
Smile to keep the sky from falling down down down down
Collect the love that I've been given
Build a nest for us to sleep in here
You know it's real.
I check my palms
The cracks in the side walk
My visions and my dreams
I cross all my fingers
That you'll be someone
That won't be forgotten
What was your questionI've got the answer.
I'll do a dance to make the rain come
Smile to keep the sky from falling down down down down
Collect the love that I've been given
Build a nest for us to sleep in here
You know it's real.
There are no signs
There are no stars aligned
No amulets no charms
To bring you back to my arms
There's just this human heart
That's built with this human flaw
What was your question
Love is the answer.
I'll do a dance to make the rain come
Smile to keep the sky from falling down down down down
Collect the love that I've been given
Build a nest for us to sleep in here
You know it's real.

Forgive me trusted readers for posting this personal note.
(I needed this song to silence a spectre. I wanted to scare off a ghost walking in my waking hours, breathing in my bed and dwelling in my dreams. The living ghosts are not easily exorcised, you know.)

  1. Bartleby says Apologies to all my Trustees, I didn't want to clog your in-box with notification of this post. I had to put this song up so I could embed it elsewhere. Thanks for your indulgence.

  3. Anna says The living ghosts are the ones that actually hide under our beds or peek through our closet's doors. Our parents just never tell us the truth when we are kids, because it would terrify us. You expect from the boogie man to act like a boogie man, but not from a person to act like a boogie man (or boogie woman). You picked a good saint to perform the exorcism. Best of luck.

  4. mktackabery says Good luck with your exorcism. I know all about ghosts: old loves, dead fathers, regrets, scenes of my ego's demise, and much worse. Let the enemy have no power over him, And the son of iniquity be powerless to harm him. -Psalm 53.

  6. scotfree says ~IbG8PbW7HIX.mp3~ OK, Let's try this again. Bowie. Mike Garson on keys. Aladdin Sane. Note to self (and Mog) - seems anytime I upload an mp3 encoded at 96-112 kbps, it doubles the speed. I know the new "Alvin and the Chipmunks" movie is out, is this some kind of subliminal advertising scheme???

  10. TylerDurden says no apologies needed...Michael, you surprise me with such a 'classy' sounding song, I LOVE IT..."My visions and my dreams I cross all my fingers That you'll be someone That won't be forgotten" love her old town voice, feels like I'm in the 20's.

  13. Bartleby says Thank you everyone for indulging me. - I tried as best as I could to suppress the mute maelstroem inside of me. Sometimes only music can express the scream that's scorching you inside. *Debi*: Thanks for popping around. I normally shun all personal notes and I would understand if others do the same. *Anna*: You've got a way with words - Thanks for the mixtape, you're an angel and a saint too. *MK*: Thank you for the psalm and the heartening song and words. *August*: We all have our demons but living ghosts are the one I dread the most. Annie Clarke is much more than a guitarist, glad you enjoyed the song. *Scotfree*: Thank you ever so much for all the Mike Garson music (not to worry about the awol speed). Check your MOG-mail. *Xhable*: Flattery works just fine with me. Glad you liked it. *BloodT*: You're just too kind. (I'll practice my kung-fu just in case ;) *Tyler*: Isn't Annie Clarke just the kind of girl who makes you swoon? Her lyrics seem be in perfect alignment with my feelings these days. *Gere*: Thanks for the recommendation - I'll look it up on emusic or iTunes

  17. Bartleby says *BloodT*: The promise of non-cruelty is tantamount to kindness. At least when it comes to you :P (How often can you use "tantamount" in your daily life?) *Darmuzz*: I agree with you but the simplest words can sometimes leave an imprint in you beyond the melody. *Lilja*: Thanks for popping around, Little Miss Glibness. Did you get my DRM-free offer on St. Vincent? I can't remember whether I sent it.

  19. lilja88 says have you heard her version of "these days"? it's lovely. I would post it for you but for some reason all the songs I purchase from iTunes are "protected" and can't be converted to mp3.
