The 25th hour cover

Posted over 4 years ago
'twas the official switch to "winter time" this week end in the UK and the EU (end of daylight saving time meant that at 2am it was 1am, Saturday night) So I hope you will excuse me for posting this late entry for our Sundays Under the Covers.

Let me also apologise for so cavalierly posting a song by the great Jimmy Scott. (Perhaps you ought to read this post by Dachmo to find out a bit more about the man Lou Reed calls the "singer with an angel voice").
Perhaps will you be indulgent with me when you've listened to his re-invention of Prince's song. Just listen to the voice, listen to the floating freedom and the soul-wrenching sorrow it conveys... I know you will find it in you to forgive me for such a casual approach.
Consider this an introduction, an invitation of sorts to a future proper conversation with this exquisite man and riveting vocalist. (Let's meet up with him here in two weeks, shall we?)

  12. Bartleby says Crikey, I can't believe I've neglected my lovely guests... DMDM: Jimmy is a man of simplicity but superlatives suit him also. I'm glad you enjoyed this little song. Cody: I have to catch on my musical readings but anyone who's a friend of Jimmy's well worth a book if not more. Ivy: Well, his voice's got something of the divine, hasn't it? Dzen: I think I get your meaning. No need to speak indeed. Scot: You know you're always welcome. Now or in a week, this MOG-closet is yours. Ngtiv: I'm glad you like it. Thanks for visiting. Soulrocket: At last I got to return the wonderful introductions you've given to me. Muchas gracias. extraordinary: Such an inspiring handle you have. Welcome to these lonely shores. Brendan: A music which hits you in the heart is always good, isn't it? Cheers. avenuestylee: Jimmy's voice makes it worthwhile, I assure you. Carolyn: The pleasure is all mine... I don't believe people can be unmoved by Jimmy... He may not be to everyone's liking but it's hard not to feel touched by his graciousness. Thank you for your posts and comments.
