WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Basking in the sun: a summer (song) delight

Posted over 2 years ago

Eating a cold ice-cream in the hot afternoon sun
Nibbling some fresh cherries and berries
Sipping an ice-cold cocktail in a hammock
Wading in the glistening surf
Lying about on the beachStrolling idly in the balmy night...

Ah, the countless pleasures of summer.

Then, there is this sweet music you like to listen to. Alfresco music which sings of the weightlessness of summer days.

"Sous le soleil"
literally "Under the sun" echoes with our summery insouciance. It relates our blitheness and gaiety.

Serge Gainsbourg is one of those composers and singers who believe in and practice the lightness of pop music. "Sous le soleil" was originally composed for a 1967 musical starring the exquisite Anna Karina and quite simply called Anna.

I hope you will feel how the song resonates with an eagerness for idleness even if you can't speak French.
