ALBUM REVIEW-DRAKE-THANK ME LATER

Artist:

Call me over-rated or creative or too jaded, because any way you put it bitch I made it!"-Drake
Aubrey "Drake" Graham is perhaps the most sought out artist of the generation Y era. Highly anticipated like 50 in 2002, the Canadian bred actor turned rapper was heavy on the underground market with such mix tapes as Room for Improvement & Comeback Season. However, his latest mix So Far Gone led him to being on the top of the totem pole with Grammy nods & a breakaway year ladened with features with some of the most premiere artists. Young Money pioneer, Dwayne Carter struck a gold mine when signing Graham.
As his debut Thank Me Later sets for its release on June 15th, though it leaked & hit the net early, will this affect his sales? Highly doubt it. The album picks up where So Far Gone left off. Opening with Fireworks, very subdued in nature speaks on his newfound success which seemingly is very surreal. His vocals alongside Alicia Keys makes this record, perhaps a fan favorite given his road to stardom.
The album is cohesive in nature in regards to its subject matter; fame, money & women. Speaking to both audiences, Graham has extreme cross-over appeal, which will please the masses, or so it should. The parental advisory sticker comes without warning & makes for the radio single, Over a hit moreover.
The standouts on the album come in the features, however, they don't take away from Drake's artistry. Of those features to check for pay attention to Up All Night featuring Young Money's own Nicki Minaj (her delivery & flow is very reminiscent of the infamous BET cypher), Fancy feat. Swizz Beats & TI, Light Up feat. Jay-Z & Miss Me feat.Lil Wayne.
Overall, Thank Me Later offers an earful of pleasure. A solid introductory of whats to come from this Young Money all-star. Drake is no stranger to success & that title is very fitting coming from the underground. Wheelchair Jimmy(Degrassi) has come a long way, & for that, you can thank him now. Applaud him.
