What is Public Domain? - Sam Amidon

Posted about 1 year ago
The new Sam Amidon disc "All is Well" is well worth the listen (just ask pitchfork). http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/record_review/48534-all-is-well All Songs are Public Domain. What does that mean? Perhaps you should listen....

  3. vannatta says By the way - in this case, Amidon is not giving away his compositions, as he has recorded songs that are already in the Public Domain - i.e. very old traditional folk songs, that no one owns the copyright on... that of course, does not mean that he doesn't own the actual sound recording copyright on his particular interpretation of these works. Cheers...

  5. Bartleby says An interesting revamp of a traditional song. Now I wonder if Moby should not follow Amidon's example, after all most the songs and mixes he makes from public domain songs and tunes. Thanks for posting.

  6. loganlenz says There is a charm to his "slenergy" (slow energy). Some may argue that this is mundane, but it somehow allows the emotion to escape through.
