Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport

Posted over 5 years ago
Ah, the Mid-West. A slower way of life, where the airport McDonalds stops selling breakfast at 10 am (!!!!). Luckily, i slid in with 2 minutes to spare and hot some hotcakes and sausage that i'm sure will wreck havoc on my digestive track later.Whenever i come to a new city, i try and listen to/appreciate some local treasures, and one of my favorite bands, the Bad Plus, are 2/3 a Minneosta band, so i feel it is a good choice to listen to in their airport. I have to turn it up pretty loud, because the airport has CNN piping in and some conservative congressman who i can't be bothered to look up to identify is talking about how the US has to stay the course in Iraq because "radical Islam is at war with the United States." See now why i chose "The Empire Strikes Backwards" as the music for this occassion? The only Saskatoon band i know is my friend Dean's band, so that will be my soundtrack as i leave in a few days - but while flying over Canada, what do i play? The options are limitless:Rush? It's too early in the day for that piercing voice. The MacKenzie Brothers? No, neither funny nor musically satisfying.Neil Young? Yeah, Harvest is a good place to start. After that...The New Pornographers? Fuck yeah. A little Electric Version sounds good.

  1. Iren says When passing through MSP you should hit up the Caribou coffee, if you don't have them in your hometown, it's just a little different from Starbucks... Music for western Canada? You can never go wrong with Calgary's "The Forbidden Dimension":http://www.myspace.com/forbiddendimension
