  1. JVaughan says I personally find this movement to be the most infectious among Mozart's Piano-Concerti finales, though that to _K._ _271_ must rank among such as well. I have not spent much time with Maestro Klemperer's work of late, but I gather that, despite his reputation for slow tempi, he could nonetheless maintain a rhythmic pulse when he wanted to. And, like Sir Adrian, he was among the few conductors at that time who seated the first violins at his left and seconds at his right in the old manner, though the practice seems to have made a strong comeback in Classical and earlier repertoire and selectively elsewhere. As I wrote yesterday, I know this pianist in name only. Hoping, as usual, that this finds all of you well, J. V. p.s. This weekend, being that of Pentecost, brings my annual playing of Elgar's three Biblical oratorios, and I am also looking forward, if all goes well, to an all-British concert by the Marine Band this afternoon.
