Sunday under the covers - This one is better than caffeine

Artist:
Pig in a Pen has been covered by more than a few notables not the least of which are The Stanley Brothers and Bill Monroe, and more recently by Railroad Earth and Yonder Mountain String Band but the credit for this fast moving ditty goes to "Traditional"
unless anyone can prove me wrong. Traditional is responsible for writing more than a few songs in my library and countless other favorites I have become accustomed to hearing over the years.
So let's give a hand to one of the best lyricist songwriters of all time, that unsung but often covered hero of the ages, Mr./Ms. "Traditional", thank you.

Damn that's hot. I think there are a few strings that are actually smokin' there!
Pig in a Pen always holds a special place in my heart, from that first time I picked up an Old & In The Way album from the record store in my college town, freshman year. I knew that Jerry played on the album, and the cartoon on the front was as intriguing as the music contained inside. It was my intro to bluegrass, and it was a slow burn, but Pig In A Pen latched on to me and will never let go.
Thanks for the vid B!
I'm still trying to upload a couple of more versions if Mog would just cooperate...
I'm getting a "500" in thew upload window and I've tried both Safari and Firefox, I would report this error in the forums but they've done away with that feature...hmmm Dear old Mog, with all of it's charming irregularities....
That Phish version was what I really wanted to share, no red buttons for B today...
I think I met Traditional once, in Tulsa, OK. As you can well imagine he./she was old as a Milton Berle joke. This was in the mid-sixties so he/she could stroll about easily unrecognized. Nobody under fifty knew him/her, and no one was under fifty. But then along came Virgil Kane and folks like that sweetheart at the rodeo cryin' tears of rage about our lack of concern for traditional's well-being....Living in public became problematical....so he/she retired to an underground cabin next to a fillin' station in Mayberry, NC.......feverishly writin' songs ever since & sending them out telepathicaly to our collective conciousness.
Does that help?
Thanks Jeff, I've been wondering whatever happened to him/her, hasn't come up with anything new in quite some time :)
hate to use other music sites while on Mog...but....
