Mog can't be just for the nine to five. Seems like for a long time now this place has been frequented in large part by people using it as a distraction while at work, that's nice and all I guess if that's your idea of dedication to the Mog community so be it, but somehow we should be trying to get people to mog at all hours of the night and day, not just 9 to 5 m-f west coast time.
Maybe if there were Live Mog TV Concerts (see Fab Channel or IClips), even if they were just small local events, God knows there are enough shows in the Bay Area to fill a channel, we could attract a larger following and get some needed participation. Maybe it's not just about posting and commenting more but another shot at added features. And while we're at it I still think having the mogos split into two, one half for the MMN the other for Moggers Only only would be a great thing. (And don't even get me started on the addition of groups and tags leading somewhere).
I miss the forums but there were just not enough of us using them for feedback I guess....

I MOG quite much, what can I say...As far as diving MOG like that, I don't really think that there is need for such a drastic measure when we have the appropriate filters.

Anna, I'm just throwing out ideas, as always, on how to make this place rock more. I prefer not to see it become just another Music source feed.

and i hear ya about the MOG activity. it would be super cool to do live streams from local shows, but the technological set-up to pull that off might be too much to pull off at this time. love the idea though, hopefully someone stores that away for future use.
great idea too, getting peeps here at other hours of the day. i hadn't really thought about that much. i used to only MOG at night when i first started. but now i MOG between 9-5, so i'm no longer aware of what MOG is like afterhours...

as a mogger who doesn't mog from work, i can tell you the quantity of my posts suffers because of such.
Anyhow, I love the idea of live streaming video, or even archived concert footage; there must be a way to incorporate such a thing. One of the things I really like about Multiply, for example, is that you can upload a full album and other folks can hear it via streaming. One song on Mog is good, but I am old fashioned enough to still enjoy a full length album.

One of the other things on Multiply is you subscribe to a post's comments once you comment on it, (until you unsubscribe from that post's comments), that would be a plus here, on Mog you only get notified when someone leaves a comment after yours unless it's on your page. This would be an easy add, would increase interactivity and you wouldn't have to keep checking back on the threads you're trying to follow. I know, you can click "posts I've commented on" but like the filters that's just another click and clicks are work and they divert attention.
oooh, thats a very neat idea. I like how on M the whole thread shows up in your email window, so you can see it all. Too bad there is no merger of Mog Multiply....
That video is hysterical! Have never seen it before. Count this MOG account as an after hours poster. Factor in that it's coming from the middle of the Pacific Ocean and it's really off from the rest of the heavy web traffic on MOG.
If the MMN and regular MOG split apart does that mean some of the MOGGERS that decided to go the MMN route would suddenly become null and void from the original MOG?
Time Machine - no nothing so drastic happens. MMN are blog posts coming from people's own blogs off-MOG. by joining MMN, they also get a MOG account. regular moggers blog directly on MOG instead of somewhere else. both have MOG accounts, so no one would ever become null or void on MOG.... i hope that explains what you were asking about. if not, feel free to mog mail me or comment on my MOG page (so we don't re-route the conversation here).
as for concert footage video, i dunno the copyright issues that govern that (clearly it's no big deal for youTube). but i would def volunteer to be a pro-concert-goer to bring y'all the latest video if that actually became a feature on MOG! i've brought back snippets from the shows i attended over the last year, but nothing longer than a few minutes. when i post it to my MOG though, no one seemed all that interested (it didn't generate much comments anyway.) then again, i don't listen to indie rock, so that might be why.
I don't see it really happening but I suppose there would be some overlap, those that do both would see the greatest benefit in terms of exposure but most moggers are looking more for community than exposure so they wouldn't always be having to wade through the feeds.

also, i'm torn on splitting up the two.
we're releasing some features soon that we've been building for 2 years now. we think these features are revolutionary.

David, the "split" would be only on the Mogos, two columns, clearly labeled Music Blog Feeds and Mogger Posts, as it is now the newcomer doesn't understand why 90% of comments left on MMN posts don't get responded to and is ushered off the Mog site to read the second half of said articles.
