US medics have found the Bee Gees' 1977 disco anthem, Stayin' Alive, provides an ideal beat to follow when performing CPR on a victim of a cardiac arrest.
A University of Illinois medical school study said it contained 103 beats per minute, close to the recommended rate of 100 chest compressions per minute. (Link to article)

"in the city shakin' while everybody's breakin'..."
hehehe - I am STAYIN ALIVE thanks to you & the beegees !!! & Olivia Newton John - she gets me PHYSICAL !!!
Hey, If I'm dyin' do what you have to do, you know? Just don't sing it. And please don't have it playin' in the background.
Talk about an "appropriately-named song", then!!!
My mother, who loved the BeeGees, would appreciate this. I thank you on her behalf.
I can guarantee you i'll remember this if I ever need to give CPR... i have a wealth of midly useless knowledge
I think that they have too much free time at the University of Illinois...
"victim" is just about the accurate term then. "patient" works, too.
