Off of one of my all time favorite albums, Lowell George covering Ann Peebles' "I Can't Stand the Rain".

the vid is Ann Peebles singing it raw - (a must listen version)

Peebles is at her gritty best when singing bittersweet songs on love's blues--a fact made amply clear in her riveting masterpiece of heartbreak, "I Can't Stand The Rain." Called the "greatest record ever" by John Lennon, "I Can't Stand The Rain" deliciously blends blues, gospel and pop into an incomparable Memphis soul stew. Understandably her biggest hit, the song peaked at #6 on the R&B charts in 1974. (musthear.com)

Ann Peebles (born April 27, 1947) is an internationally acclaimed singer and songwriter best known for her popular Memphis soul albums of the 1970s on the Hi Records label. Two of her better known songs are "I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down" and "I Can't Stand the Rain". more...

(sidenote - Lowell George was also a respected producer, with his most famous work being the production of the Grateful Dead's 1978 release Shakedown Street.

She was married to Don Bryant in 1974 according to the article I read at musthear.com and the wiki.

There are a lot of great tracks on the album Steve, how about "Easy Money"?

"the easier it looks the harder it hooks, there ain't no such thing as eassssy moneeey"...

and the reworking of "Two Trains" is a splendid listen.

    Glad y'all enjoyed this.
