German mullets
The United States is not unique in its reverence for the mullet. Germany has its own lock on the style, often sighted on old construction workers, men wearing colorful pants with elastic waistbands, and soccer players. It's popularly called the _vokuhila_ which comes from "_vorne kurz, hinten lang_" meaning "front short, back long."
_Vokuhila Superstar_ is German pop-punk band *Die Ärzte's* tribute to these ubermen, and comes from their ridiculously catchy 1996 hair-themed album, _Le Frisur_. The refrain: @"Vokuhila - Du bist der Star, von dem der Chor hier singt... Na, alles klar? Vokuhila, unser Frisurenking!"@ One might roughly translate it to: @"Mullet, you are the star, of this the choir sings. Everything clear? Mullet, our hairstyle king!"@ Throw in references to Mullet-bedecked German rocker *Peter Maffay*, and the song goes delightfully downhill as the doctors beg for an answer as to what is wrong with these people who spend so much time on their awful-looking hair.
