While everyone else was Deathcabbing I made a point to get my ass on over to the Sahara tent for what was in my estimation an absolute must band to see. I've only recently gotten into Hot Chip since I heard their new album. Even though I had heard/seen vids of theirs before, something about "Made In The Dark" clicked for me(may have something to do with the accessiblity of the new album leak several months ago, hehe).

Anyway, securing a spot outside the tent I laid down to rest for a bit in the shade since it was so f'ing hot(over 100 degrees, although I heard it had gotten up to 107, yikes!). Anyway, I watched all the uber hipster kids mingling about . Soon Hot Chip started up & before I knew it I had to get up after several songs of theirs because they were MOVING me to do so. Damn if those boys weren't rocking the tent. I then ventured inside & was forced to dance against my will, haha!(Not like it's too hard to get me to do so in the first place @;))
Here's "Shake A Fist" at Coachella:

At some point towards the end of their set they incorporated a New Order song into one of their songs. I can't recall either song at the moment but I recognized the NO song immediately but couldn't place the title. Damn my memory fails me at the most inopportune times. it was so cool though since Hot Chip is obviously inspired by NO, who is one of my fave bands too. So glad I saw these guys. They ROCKED!
"Over And Over" at Coachella:

I am fan of this group. My fave record is the 1st, although the second gives it a run for the money. For some reason I think of early 10cc when I think of Hot Chip, I think it may be the low voice high voice thing.
My Trusted MOGs
I haven't heard their first cd Chris, although I've heard songs off it. I wouldn't have thought of 10cc at all, so that's interesting to hear. I only know of 10cc's "I'm Not In Love" though, so what do I know, lol. I think Hot Chip have 3 albums out if I'm not mistaken. Yes, I just checked wiki here and they have 3 listed in their "Albums" section.

not that I would've even CONSIDERED skipping DCfC, I must admit this sounds fun...will keep my eyes open for them in the future
My Trusted MOGs
green with envy - nice post!
My Trusted MOGs
Amber well, OF COURSE you wouldn't even consider skipping DCFC & I would never ask you to. But there are other options that you are missing out on dear! Hot Chip was alot of fun indeed.
Oatmeal thanks, it was worth making the effort to go!
My Trusted MOGs
not sure what other options besides DCFC were but I would have been dancing with you bro. Although I am really bored with their new record I am decently familiar with their first two records and would have enjoyed seeing them live.
My Trusted MOGs
They have such great energy! I would've totally got down with you guys! Love how they let loose in that first clip with like 2 min left.
This song makes me smile...My Trusted MOGs
I think I would have been there dancing with you. I like DCFC and all, but I was really impressed with Hot Chip when I saw them 2 years ago, and I would love to see them again. Plus, it was in a tent, and me and the sun don't get along well :)

I was rockin Cinematic Orchestra... after catching a bit of the Hot Chip & then heading for eats & potty break - they were quite tastey... as were CO & that is the band I couldn't miss :)
Thrilled you enjoyed them so much, so did Mark :)
My Trusted MOGs
Mike Dwight Yoakam, Scars On Broadway & Cinematic Orchestra as well as Hot Chip were the other options to DCFC. Your bored of the new Hot Chip album? I've been listening to it alot lately. We'd have had a blast shakin' our asses side by side!
Helen most definitely GREAT energy. I thought they were pretty rambunctious on stage & so much fun. I avoided posting that clip since it's the 'hit' & I figured someone else would do it, hehe. And yea it is awesome how they cut loose in that first clip, lol! You should've seen the crowd, wait, watch this(crappy vid/sound but you get the idea):
Andrea YES we would be dancing together if you'd been there. A fellow Hot Chip enthusiast is always welcome. Plus I'm not too keen on being in the sun either & mainly worked at finding spots in the shade to watch the groups. I survived Coachella w/o getting a sunburn so I did something right(lots of sunscreen helped too)!
Lizzie yup I knowz you was rockin' Cinematic Orchestra. They were my next choice after Hot Chip. So you caught some of them too huh. I was going to catch the last of CO but after Hot Chip I needed more water & had to hit the bathroom before I moved on.

I forgive you...I forgive your decision not to Death Cab...
You chose wisely young Padwan...
My co-worker went to Coachella and spoke very highly about Hot Chip...She said it was one of the best performances of the day.
My Trusted MOGs
Ummm right Annie. No forgiveness necessary, heh. I'm glad my choice is Annie-approved! And Hot Chip's performance was one of many best performances that day or me. There was VHS or Beta, Stephen Malkmus, Kraftwerk, Portishead & Prince. A sublime day really(except for the heat).

How can anyone get sick of Coachella reviews when it's drenched in sunny beats and trance-inducing videos? -- Incidentally, how did the lads from Putney handle the desert heat?
My Trusted MOGs
They handled it by making it HOTTER, Michael! It was seriously sweltering in the tent w/everyone dancing from Hot Chip's jams but, you know, in a good way.
My Trusted MOGs
I would have made the same festival choice. Something tells me that if I come next year, I'll be following you around...mwuahahhha
My Trusted MOGs
Nice to know I'd be in great company niece. We'll have a blast if you do decide to make it!
